Swim England attends prestigious European Congress for Adapted Physical Activity

A representative of Swim England has been invited to attend the prestigious European Congress for Adapted Physical Activity in Spain.

The bi-annual scientific conference is organised by the European Federation of Adapted Physical Activity (EUFAPA) and aims to promote, facilitate and coordinate co-operation in research, professional preparation, provision of services and promotion of Adapted Physical Activity for people with disabilities.

Lorna Goldie, Swim England’s school swimming and water safety development officer, is attending the four-day event in Seville.

She said: “It’s a unique and exciting opportunity for us, along with the Youth Sport Trust, Ask Research and Lead Inclusion School Parkside from Norwich to share the learnings and finding from Inclusion 2024 on a global scale.

Fantastic opportunity

“Importantly, it’s also a fantastic opportunity to learn from other countries, leading academics and organisations from around the world about inclusive best practice as we continue to support our young people in accessing inspiring and meaningful PE and school sport opportunities.”

The YST, Ask research, Swim England and Parkside will be particularly highlighting:

  • National learnings from Inclusion 2024 – the impact on and for young people with SEND in PE and School Sport
  • Learnings from School Swimming and Water Safety work for young people with SEND
  • SEND inclusion in school sport through inclusive sport festivals, levering the magic of the Paralympic Games.
  • Our thought leadership in Sport Sanctuaries to engage more young people in PE, school and life.
