Ponds Forge set for biggest Swim England National Summer Meet ever

Almost 1000 swimmers from clubs up and down the country will take part in the largest ever GoCardless Swim England National Summer Meet this week.

For the first time the competition will take place across six days with 965 swimmers from 242 clubs heading to Ponds Forge, Sheffield.

They’ll be involved across 58 events with 470 medals being awarded to some of the future stars of English and British swimming.

Racing begins on Monday 29 July with the 1500m Freestyle heat declared winner events. Female athletes will take to the pool from 8:30am that morning with the open/male event scheduled for around 12:45pm.

Heats will then be held each day, until Saturday 3 August, starting at 8:30am with finals in the evening. This year the heats have been split into two sessions to help facilitate warmup and cool down for the athletes whilst an extra session will be held on Wednesday and Thursday afternoon at 2:45pm for the 800m freestyle races. Supporting Team GB’s Paris heroes from Ponds Forge

This year’s GoCardless Swim England National Summer Meet runs at the same time as the current crop of Team GB stars are out in Paris for the 2024 Olympic Games.

Swimming and diving events in Paris take place throughout the Championships but all those at Ponds Forge can enjoy the experience together with the Speedo Watch Parties.

Every evening following the Summer Meet finals, there will be a big screen setup in the seating area of the Ponds Forge café where the swimming community from up and down the country can come together to support our Olympic heroes.

Finals in Paris take place at around 7:30pm UK time every night with finals sessions at Ponds Forge getting underway at 5pm on Tuesday and Friday, 6pm on Wednesday and Thursday and 4pm on Saturday.

Coaches will also have access to a TV showing the event in the coaches room so they can keep up with some of their current and former athletes as well as all of the action in Paris.
