Introduction to Teaching Water Safety for Learn to Swim

The purpose of this CPD is to provide individuals with up to date knowledge regarding water safety competency, identifying where water skills and knowledge are embedded within the Swim England Learn to Swim Programme, from the Core Aquatic Skills to award outcomes. It gives examples of good practice, strategies and adaptions to teaching practices that will support participants with their skills and knowledge of how to remain safe in and around different water-based situations.

Who is the CPD for?

This CPD is aimed at anyone over the age of 16 years inclusive of swimming teachers and assistants, coaching staff, pool operators, swim coordinators delivering the Swim England Learn to Swim Programme

This 3 hours CPD is delivered face-to-face.

Content

During this session you will learn about:

  • Understand how people drown
  • Define water competency
  • Identify the core aquatic skills and their importance in drowning prevention
  • Describe where water safety is taught in the learn to swim programme
