The SEQ Level 3 Swim Coordinator qualification has been produced collaboratively with the swimming sector, to develop leadership skills to support business needs, improve the customer experience and maximise pool performance.
The programme is relevant to the issues faced by the sector. You will utilise working case studies from your own organisation, creating solutions which can be implemented immediately, to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality and successful swimming programmes.
Who is the course designed for?
This qualification is for current swim coordinators or for those aspiring to be a swim coordinator/ manager (or similar). The learning days, in a virtual classroom, and assessment will ask you to draw upon experiences and real workplace examples.
Course content
The course is delivered through virtual classrooms on Zoom and covers the following topics:
Personal Development - Evaluating your performance and identify strengths to develop and areas for improvement including:
Legal Requirements and Guidelines - Understanding legal requirements and how they relate to coordinating swimming programmes including:
Business Development - Producing a business improvement plan and identifying opportunities which maximise revenue and enhances the customer experience including:
Co-ordinating Swim Programmes - Monitoring, evaluating and improving swimming programmes including:
Observation and Mentoring - Developing and motivating your workforce including:
Communication - Understanding effective approaches for communicating with stakeholders including:
All course materials are made available in electronic format. Learners can print out materials if they wish to.
Assessment
The assessment will consist of the Learner reviewing a Case Study, a video of a swimming lesson and answering questions relating to a Case Study, the lesson and their their own development. The Learner is also assessed on the planning and chairing a team meeting. The majority of the questions are based on being the Swim Coordinator at the pool described in the Case Study.
The assessment material is all available via an online platform directly from Swim England Qualifications at a time agreed with the Institute of Swimming. The Learner decides when they are ready to be assessed. Assessment is undertaken by External Moderators that are independent to Swim England Qualifications. The assessment process usually takes between 15-25 working days. If the work is referred then amendments will be required and a re-submission made. Swim England Qualifications apply a charge for this re-submission which may be passed on to the learner.
