This course will provide you with an understanding of your role, duty and responsibility in relation to safeguarding everyone within your organisation.
During this course, you will be asked to think about different types of harm that children and adults can experience. You may have your own lived experience of harm and abuse and may find some of the content in this course difficult and upsetting. Should you wish to have a chaperone with you please let your tutor know prior to the course.
Who is the course for?
The Swim England Safeguarding in Aquatics Training was developed and written for Swim England affiliated Clubs, Swim Schools and Organisation Members who hold a role which requires a DBS check.
Should participants from a Non-Swim England setting choose to attend our course, they should be aware that this course is bespoke to Swim England and they would need to follow up their learning with their own employer or business to ensure they are aware of the safeguarding policy, procedures and reporting procedures applicable to their business or employment and who their welfare officer or designated safeguarding lead is.

You must be at least 16 years of age at the start of the course.

The course delves and discusses safeguarding in aquatics to raise awareness of signs of abuse, and provide the tools and confidence to deal with issues sensitively. Due to the nature of the topics that will be discussed should you wish to have a chaperone with you please let your tutor know prior to the course.

Bookings must be made through the account of the individuals attending the training. Institute of Swimming learners are solely responsible for ensuring that their swimming.org online profile details are up to date. If details are incorrect and a certificate re issue is required the learner will be responsible for covering any additional fees.
Please ensure that you are in a suitable learning environment with strong internet access. You will be required to have your camera and microphone on to participate in the workshop.
Following the completion of your course, it will take up to 3 weeks for your certificate to be issued and a record of the qualification to be added to your membership record. An electronic copy of your certificate will be emailed to you.
