The academy allows aspiring swimming teachers to receive all their training for only £85, compared to the usual cost of over £1000. It includes a mentor to support your development and you will be matched with an employer.

About
Work hours are generally part-time including weekday evenings from 4pm to 8pm and weekends from 8.30am to 6pm. You will be required to deliver a minimum of eight hours per week and one shift must be a Saturday or Sunday.
Once qualified, successful trainees will be employed as swimming teachers by Lex Leisure and may be required to work across all three of the following leisure centres:
- Crook Log Leisure Centre, Brampton Rd, Bexleyheath DA7 4HH
- Sidcup Leisure Centre, Hurst Rd, Sidcup DA15 9AE
- Erith Leisure Centre, Avenue Rd, Erith DA8 3AT
A DBS check will be required before starting your volunteering hours.

Shortlisted applicants will be given the opportunity to find out more about the swimming teacher opportunity at an informal virtual meet and greet session and interview that will take place after the closing date.
You don’t need any prior qualifications to apply as you will be supported through your training, although we are accepting applications from those who are halfway through their swimming teacher training or already have their level 1 or 2 qualifications.
Swimming teachers will need to complete a one day National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches (NRASTC) course which will be fully funded by Lex Leisure. There is also a requirement to attend one training session every three months to uphold the qualification. Lex Leisure will also fund various CPD courses after your first six months of employment in order to develop your skills and knowledge.
