Ten 'promising young divers' selected for Team Z after shining at Talent Games

A group of 10 ‘promising young divers’ have been selected for the Swim England Team Z programme after impressing at the recent Talent Games.

Team Z is the first step on the Swim England Diving talent pathway. It provides up to 15 divers the opportunity to take part in seven camps over a two-year programme.

The camps cover a range of themes in both pool and dry land. It also gives them experience of being away from home and developing lifestyle skills.

The divers will be attending a camp in Southend from 22-24 January 2022 which will include three cohorts of Team Z athletes: this season’s selected divers, those that should have completed the programme last year and those that have completed their second year on the programme.

Throughout the rest of 2021 and 2022, Swim England Diving will also be looking to provide additional support to coaches on the programme.

‘Develop their core skills’

Suzie Collins, Swim England diving talent development officer, said: “It’s really exciting to be welcoming these young, talented divers to Team Z.

“The programme will look to develop their core skills over the two-year period and hone their natural abilities as they progress in their diving journeys.

“Another aim for the next instalment for Team Z is to build in additional coach development on the camps which is something we are looking forward to introducing.”
