The City of Coventry Swimming Club (COCSC) is looking to recruit Technical Leads (Coaching) to assist our Head of Aquatics (HOA) in creating a high-quality environment and culture where all members of the Club can fulfil their aims and potential. This will be achieved by having three Technical Lead roles: Youth, Age, and Development. 

COCSC is a charity that operates in providing swimming provision to all, from Learn to Swim to Competitive Swimming for all ages.  These roles will be employed by the City of Coventry Swimming Club with the main base being the Alan Higgs Centre, Coventry. We are looking for enthusiastic people for these roles who are passionate about swimming, and to grow within the industry. Personal development and attendance on external programmes i.e. County and Regional Pathways and Swim England Programmes are encouraged.

Each Technical Leadwill report to the HOA who will be assisted by the Assistant Head of Aquatics (AHOA). The AHOA will deputise for the HOA when necessary. The HOA will assign each role for 1st September each year for that person to undertake for 12 months through to 31st August the following year i.e, 1st September 2024-31st August 2025.

Duties and Responsibilities are to include but not be limited to:

  • Assist the HOA with the coaching and delivery of the respective squad allocated with the aim of taking over as being Lead Coach.
  • Take leadership of the area of the Club allocated and work with respective coaches in that section.
  • Deliver pre- and post-pool work and land training programme where required.
  • Attend and support squads at home and away meets as agreed with the HOA.
  • Work alongside sports science support as appropriate.
  • Own the section allocated including the programmes, scheduling and delivery of squad sessions and communicating with membership where required. 
  • Aid in all Team selections for competitions, In particular where your swimmers are required. Specific team selections are allocated below.
  • Assist the AHOA with the development of the Club’s overall competition calendar.
  • Work with parents and organise regular meetings setting targets for the swimmers and reviewing these, including squad parent presentations a minimum of 3 times per year.
  • Undertake squad administration and arrange coach cover for designated sections as directed.
  • Support and work with other squads and their coaches as directed by the Head of Aquatics.
  • Assist in carrying out assessments of new enquiries from our Learn To Swim programme as well as external enquiries as directed by the AHOA.
  • Assist the AHOA with squad movements at regular intervals in conjunction with the HOAand the wider coaching team.
  • Ensure a welcoming club culture where swimmers can develop confidence and achieve their full potential.
  • Be a key member of our club and work with the HOA to deliver on our club vision, attending meetings where required. 
  • Be an ambassador for the Club through your leadership, commitment and modelling of the behaviours expected in our club policies. 
  • Attend the Yearly Awards Night and other Club activities as designated by HOA/AHOA and/or Trustees.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by the HOA/Trustees, in line with the club's needs/objectives.
