Swimming Teacher

Leatherhead Swimming Club in Surrey is looking for a Swimming Teacher to join our Academy team.

The Academy is going through a period of growth. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who loves to teach the sport of swimming. We are looking for a candidate who has experience teaching the sport of swimming and working alongside other passionate teachers and coaches.

Leatherhead Swim Academy is the foundation of Leatherhead Swimming Club (LSC), therefore, a key area in maintaining the quality of our whole program.

Job Title: Leatherhead Swim Academy Swimming Teacher

Accountable to: Leatherhead Swim Academy Head Teacher, LSC Executive Committee and Head Coach

Hours: Up to 5 hours teaching per week ‘on deck’. Extra teaching and coaching opportunities may be available.

Qualifications/Experience:

• SEQ/ASA/UKCC Level 2 Teaching Swimming qualification or similar (preferred in combination with a Swim England Swimming Coach Certificate/ASA Level 2 Coaching Award)
• Suitable lifeguard qualification (NRASTC/NPLQ) preferred but not essential. Suitable coaching cover (IOS/BSCA)
• We are looking for a committed, organised individual to join our team of swim teachers. Applicants must be responsible, punctual and enjoy working with children. Applicants should be able to work as part of a team as well as individually.
   

Key Responsibilities:

• The planning and delivery of a series of detailed and progressive sessions in line with all stages of Swim England’s Learn to Swim Programme
• The ability to adjust session plans to suit the individual needs of the swimmers, using age-appropriate practices
• The ability to create a fun, motivating and stimulating learning environment.
• To communicate effectively suitable practices and demonstrate correct techniques.
• Ensuring the safety of all swimmers.
• Ensuring that all equipment is used correctly and maintained in good condition.
• Liaising with the Awards Coordinator to ensure the Academy participants receive their badges and certificates in a timely fashion upon completing stages.
• Maintaining correct, up-to-date records including registers, individual progress
• Supporting the admin team as and when it is required
• Promoting the Swim Academy
