Boldmere Swimming Club in Sutton Coldfield is looking for a passionate, enthusiastic and organised Lead Coach to join our Coaching Team, working with developing swimmers and delivering a planned and varied swimming program.

Main Duties:

  • Implement and deliver coaching sessions following the club's annual training cycle.
  • Undertake the necessary administration to ensure all training is planned, monitored and evaluated.
  • Monitor progress and co-ordinate swimmer transition within the squad structure (in conjunction with the Coaching Team).
  • Communicate with parents and the committee on performance pathways and longer-term squad transition plans.
  • Attend all appropriate galas and competitions. Ensure swimmer feedback is optimised to guide and improve and ensure swimmers meet their personal goals, in accordance with the annual plan as agreed by the Head Coach.
  • Use the feedback given to guide the planning of future coaching.
  • Attend regular Coaching Team meetings, provide reports as required and support development initiatives for long-term athlete development.
  • Attend goal-setting meeting with squad members and parents.
  • Provide additional cover across the various squads when needed.
  • Attend regular appraisal meetings, develop and agree personal targets and shared club annual targets as agreed in line with the club’s long-term goals.
  • Promote to follow Swim England’s Wavepower and club policies, procedures and guidelines.

Requirements: 

  • Swim England Swimming Coach or Senior Swimming Coach Certificate/ASA Level 2 or Level 3 Coaching Award.
  • Have experience working within a competitive club environment.
  • Knowledge of competitive swimming.
  • Experience and knowledge of planning and delivering effective training plans.
  • Knowledge and ability to engage and develop swimmers’ skills and techniques.
  • Willing to engage in County, Regional or National Coach development programmes as required.
  • Willing to further your coaching qualifications and be proactive in specialist training through continuing CPD.
  • To undertake a DBS check, join Swim England and become a club member.
  • Complete safeguarding training.
  • Hold an NPLQ or NRASTC qualification (can be done with the club).
  • Be entitled to live and work within the UK.

In this role, you will be expected to always champion this commitment and actively promote and deliver effective safeguarding practices across all activities within the club. This role is subject to an Enhanced Level DBS with Barred List check, and you will be required to attend the Swim England Safeguarding and Protecting Children CPD.
