Stockport Metro Swimming Club based in Greater Manchester is looking to appoint a new part-time Lead Academy Coach to work alongside the Head of Academy to coach our youngest swimmers as they transition from lessons to squads. 

Your role will be dedicated to engaging with our youngest swimmers as they start their swimming journey, improving technique and skills, and coaching with high standards and quality following our WATCH principles.

You will also work with the Head of Academy to promote and connect with the new members and consistently deliver a high standard of coaching that we provide to the community.

Prior coaching experience is not necessary if you worked in learn to swim however the applicant must have a good technical knowledge of all strokes. We will consider applications from teachers who wish to move into coaching.

The role will also include opportunities for personal development and mentorship from our highly experienced coaching team.

Job Description

Coaching:

  • To coach Academy squads (swimmers aged 6-10) with a primary focus on improving technique, skill and training ability
  • Training sessions will take place Monday – Thursday 6.35-7.35 pm and Sunday 5-6.30 pm
  • To assist with pre-pool and land training when needed
  • To help organise ‘race nights’ and other competitions
  • To use initiative, creative and come with new ideas
  • To follow a criteria and coaching plan set by the Head of Academy
  • To work with the Head of Academy Coach to ensure a progressive pathway from lessons to our age group squads
  • To cover other coaching sessions when needed.
