Holland and Macdonald among entries for 2016 ASA Synchro Masters

European Masters champions Andrea Holland and Carolyn Macdonald are among the entries for next month’s ASA Synchronised Swimming Masters Championships.

The Rushmoor pair, who won Duet gold at this year’s European Masters Championships in London, will aim to secure the domestic and continental double in the 50-59 Yrs age group at the event in Rugby on Saturday 5 November.

Holland and Macdonald are both former elite European Duet champions. Holland lifted the title in 1977 with Jackie Cox while Macdonald (nee Wilson) won in 1981 with Caroline Holmyard, and two years later with Amanda Dodd.

The pair will also compete for Rushmoor in the Team event in which Rushmoor take on Brighton Dolphins in the 35-49 Yrs age group.

Competitive field in the 25-29 Yrs Duet

The 25-29 Yrs age group features the most competitors at this year’s event with five entries from five different English clubs.

Seymour Synchro’s pair will feature swimmers who competed in London earlier this year. Zeng Yixin and Hannah De Smet were ninth in the Duet at the Europeans while Giulia Escher was sixth in the Solo event.

Kingston Ladies’ Laura Gee and Louise Chambers return after their fourth place at last year’s ASA Masters Championships. Rykneld’s Lauren Ward and Sarah Hoof also competed 12 months ago.

The two other new pairs in this age group are Kerrie Brennan and Mary Lowe from Hertfordshire club Aqualina, and Rugby Synchro pair Hollie Adams and Hannah Colledge.
